What is Community Funeral Care?
Community Funeral Care is a fully licensed funeral home. Families who call on us are served by a licensed funeral director. We are able to provide caskets and outer burial containers from the exact same manufacturers as other funeral homes. We provide the same services and aftercare. We are a funeral home.
How does it work?
Just like any other funeral home, we answer our telephone 24 hours every day. When we are called upon to serve, we immediately bring the body of your loved one into our care from the place of death. Your loved one is cared for by us personally. We then arrange a time to meet with the surviving family in our down-town arrangement office to guide them through the funeral arrangement process. Some elements of the arrangement process may be completed online, especially in the case of cremation arrangements (this is entirely up to the family). At the time of need, if visitation and a funeral are part of the desired services, we work with local churches and other venues to arrange for funeral and memorial services in churches and secular spaces (this is already common practice in our community). We conduct the viewing, funeral, and/or memorial service and provide our staff to the service location for clean-up afterwards—all as part of our normal services. We also compensate churches from our profits—not at an additional cost to the families we serve. Using our services is another way to further support local congregations.
Why are the prices so much lower?
The answer to that question is simple: we are determined to charge less for our services and merchandise. There are tremendous mark-ups in the funeral industry. Because of our business model, we are able to charge less for the same or superior services as you would receive from other providers. Have you considered that if you pay more than what we charge for a funeral, you are enriching a funeral home owner at the expense of your family?
We also sell caskets to families who have chosen another funeral home.
We have access to all the same casket makers as any traditional funeral home. Please do not over-pay for something like a casket. The Federal Trade Commission and Indiana law require all funeral homes to accept caskets from third-party sellers. So then, we can provide a casket to you as part of our services, or we can deliver to any funeral home of your choice. All funeral homes must accept delivery without question and without charging for the privilege--it's the law. You will likely find that our prices are hundreds, even thousands less than you might otherwise pay.
