Ila Jolynn Boyd, 65, of Edinburgh, put on her PJ's, grabbed a warm blanket, snuggled up in her husband’s favorite chair, put her feet in front of a warm fireplace, and reunited with her love November 26, 2025. She was born April 14, 1960, Long Beach, California to Henry and Maria (San Nicolas) Swan, and they survive as a symbol, an example, and an embodiment of enduring love. In the image of that enduring love, Ila married the love of her life Joel Patrick Boyd on July 1, 1976, in Clinton, Iowa, and he preceded her in death on February 12, 2024. She is also survived by her daughters, Maria (John West) Boyd, of Savanna, IL, and Christina (Jason) Abney, of Columbus; son, Patrick (Julia) Boyd, of Seymour; siblings, Ros (Gary) March of Peoria, Az, Rocky (Susan) Swan, of Zwingle, Iowa, Kevin (Aileen) Swan, of Madison, WI, and Meri (David) Stricklin, of Savanna, IL; grandchildren, MeriKita, J.P., Judah, Kieren, Ja’Bryceson, Titus, Addison, Miriam, and Oliver; and great granddaughter, Rosemary Jane. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Bernisa and Denisa Swan; and great grandchildren, Ruth Mae, and Francis Michael. Ila travelled the country (and the world) with the soldier of her dreams raising and serenading a tight knit and loving family. Ila’s final resting place was Indiana. Rest, however was not what Ila really did; she loved spending what seemed like infinite time, attention and energy with her grandchildren. Whatever the interest, Nanny became a full participant......cooking, comic book writing, music, sports, tag, movies, history, game shows, video games, or fighting bad guys --all became facets of her repertoire. With a surplus of energy still, Ila spent many years with her family at Jay C Food Store in Edinburgh, where a family remains. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Her voice will be missed by all who were privileged enough to have heard and felt it. For a discerning ear, comfort can be found in Ila's voice emanating from the voices of her siblings. But, her voice echoes on in in her family and those whose lives she touched. Her voice rings through any song of enduring love. A memorial service will be 6:30 P.M., Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Christ Fellowship Church, 125 Lind Drive, Edinburgh. Memorial visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. For those not able to attend, another memorial service will be held in April in Savanna, IL.
