Brett D. Merrick, 65, of Columbus, formerly of Indianapolis passed away December 19, 2024. He was born October 26, 1959, in Greensburg, Indiana, to the late Merrill and Mary K. (Wiley) Merrick. He is survived by his brother, Darren E. Merrick, of Columbus; and his nephew, Tyler Merrick. Brett was a graduate of Columbus North High School as well as Indiana University. He had worked for RCI (Resorts Condominiums International) and Charles Schwab. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 23, 2024, at St. Louis Crossing Church. Pastor Tim Dillingham will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m., until the service at the church. Burial will be in Bear Creek Cemetery, Westport. Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Funeral Care, Edinburgh.

Joyce Anita Chadwell, 82, of Edinburgh, passed away December 11, 2024. She was born January 2, 1942, in Flat Rock, to the late John O. Bandy and Bonnie Defever Bandy. She is survived by her husband, Richard A. Chadwell; her brother, Jerry Bandy, of Missouri; and her sister, Jane Coughlin, of Santa Monica, CA. Gary Alan Perkins, 70, of Columbus, passed away December 7, 2024. He was born October 5, 1954, in Columbus to the late Robert and Pauline Driver Perkins. He is survived by his sons, Michael Perkins, of Columbus, Matthew Perkins, of Columbus, and Andrew (Sheena) Perkins, of Columbus; daughter, Juli (Troy) Hardin, of Texas; brothers, Donald Perkins, of Columbus, Steve (Peg) Perkins, of Columbus, and Lloyd Perkins, of Columbus, sisters, Teresa (Terry) Henderson, of Columbus, and Anita Zapfe; grandchildren, Gavin, Brayson, Aubrey, Taylar, Dayton, Justin, Shelbi, Brayden, Darren, and Devon; and ten great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a great grandchild. A celebration of life service will be 6:00 p.m., Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Come as You Are Ministries fellowship hall, 220 McShane Street, Columbus. Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Funeral Care, Edinburgh.
Lance A. Williams, 77, formerly of Marshall, Illinois, passed away December 5, 2024, in Columbus, Indiana where he has lived for the past 2 years. He was born October 31, 1947, in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late James Russel Williams and Kathryn Louise Williams. He graduated from Wiley High School in Terre Haute. He married Frieda Mae Williams in December 1968, and she preceded in him in death on September 9, 2023. He is survived by his daughter Shauncee (Larry) Johnson, of Columbus; son Chancelor (Angela) Williams, of Woodlands, TX; grandchildren, Jordan, Jacob, and Ashleigh Johnson, and Tinley and Gage Williams. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving from April 1968 until July of 1972. This included an active tour of duty in the Vietnam War. He and his wife moved to Marshall, IL where Lance built his own house from the ground up and lived for over 40 years before moving to Columbus, IN. Lance was a machinist working for General Electric & Duke Energy, where he was certified as an emergency responder before retiring in 2016. As a young adult Lance enjoyed showing dogs and was an active member of the Terre Haute American Kennel Club. He also enjoyed collecting model trains. Lance’s biggest hobby was maintaining race cars for his children and grandchildren. His love for the sport grew as he built and maintained a fleet of cars for Jordan, Jacob, & Ashleigh where they raced at Terre Haute Quarter Midget Association. Lance was elected Tech Director for THQMA and later for the entire Region Five of QMA. He was a creative problem solver with an incredible mechanical intuition. Above all he was a proud father and grandfather. Services will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, December 13, 2024, at St. Louis Crossing Church, 6271 E 800 N Columbus, IN 47203. Visitation will be from 1:00, p.m., until the service at the church on Friday. Pastor Tim Dillingham will officiate the service along with Lance’s grandson, Jordan Johnson. Interment will be Monday, December 16, 2024, in Cottage Hill Cemetery, Brazil, Indiana. Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Funeral Care, Edinburgh. |
